It Is Finished.

Well, dears, so it ends. It’s kind of an odd feeling, and I think we’re all going to have a kind of slump now that it’s over. No more chat room sessions, no more encouragement for and from Wrimos…in fact you may not see or talk to them again for a year. Unless you were insane and signed up for Script Frenzy, which I did (I have lost my mind, I really have).

If you’re doing something with your novel, like editing or even working towards publishing, please let me know! Personally, I hate my main character, so I might just keep this one in the archives of my trusty MacBook. πŸ™‚

Congratulations to everyone who ENTERED this. Even that took some serious guts. We rock. We absolutely rock. And if you, like me, receive a half-hearted “congrats, now let’s move on with your lives” from the people around you, don’t fret. Remember that they love and support you and didn’t write a novel in a month, so they don’t quite know what to say, perhaps. Just know that you are absolutely ROCKING. Celebrate, take the day off, eat the rest of your NaNo candy (mine’s gone), or get back into routine. Whatever you do today, you are a superhero in the world of writing.

I’ll probably post more throughout the year, but not regularly. Excerpts will come in a few days, probably over the weekend. They’re quite awful, especially the last 8k:) I made so many typos that I’m not even sure I can read any of it.

And so, farewell. I’ll be back again for Script Frenzy, so if you’re doing that, let me know, and find me on the site (africanstardust)! Until then, au revoir.

  1. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY CONGRATS ON FINISHING!! What an insane amount of words in such a short time for you, hey!

As for what I’m doing, I’m redeaming my coupon for CreativeSpace for my free proof copy, so I’ll be editing in about 2 weeks time after I finish it (still got a few scenes to add and loose ends to tie up).

You should do it! Even if no one reads it, you’ll have a professionally bound copy in your own bookshelf! (just remember to add your dedication pages, etc into the book as well before you send it to CS) πŸ™‚

  2. I think I will, too:) I just have to sort out the mess of typos and figure out the correct chapters (my last few were labeled “Chapter something or other”. It is nice to have a bound copy of your book on the shelf:)

  3. I was very impressed by your last minute word sprints; I would not have won against a challenge like that. 3.3k in one hour? I would need a bionic arm. (Either by the end of it or to do it in the first place.) Last minute drama=Awesome; congratulations again!

I regret not getting a free proof copy last year because I was too insecure about what I had written. Just put NaNoWriMo Edition or Rough/Editor’s Copy below your title in case other people stumble across it on your shelf. (And pen names are wonderful things don’t you think? :D)

  4. Well done! I hit my 50k on day 20, and hit my personal goal of 65k for the month on the final day. It felt great! Although I don’t know what to do with myself now.

  5. @leofair: thanks! Don’t worry, my hands about fell off and I don’t think any of it was coherent. You definitely should get a proof copy! It’s just a nice thing to see on your shelf (even if it doesn’t have your real name on it) πŸ™‚

@sophietonks: Congrats on finishing so well!! Everyone who does NaNo is amazing, but anyone who finishes early and/or goes above the mark as a personal challenge is my hero.
