I should be exercising, but I’m not. I’m posting a blog post. About, among other things, how terribly I miss horseback riding. Yes, lessons are painful, and yes, falling off is…also painful…and the pressure to be in shows takes a little of the fun out of it. But to just ride through a vineyard and only have the sound of the hooves and have the blue sky above you, and perhaps a peaceful breeze, is the most effective de-stressing technique I have ever tried. Horses are magnificent animals.

In other news, I am seeing my sister who I haven’t seen for five years tomorrow afternoon. I’m also seeing my sister who I’ve seen surprisingly often. Both of these make me incandescently happy πŸ™‚ (What are you talking about? I have not been watching Pride & Prejudice.)

By the way, our friend who has cancer went to the oncologist, where they drained 3 liters (!) of water that had built up. She feels much better now, can actually eat, and is slightly more in tune with her body. However, she still has a lot of pain and the water will build up again, so please keep her in your prayers.

  1. I used to ride as well….though I never got to the showing stage, I enjoyed hacking out on some rather daunting rides and I dabbled in jumping (got to +- 50cm lol). Had I gone to a proper riding school, I think I might have had a chance. I just hate how bitchy riding chicks can be to one another 😦

And to your friend with cancer, my heart and prayers are with you and yours. My aunt passed away from cancer and had to have a catheter inserted to drain fluids from her liver that wasnt working anymore. She also drained a lot from herself, but wasnt allowed more than 4l at a time.

Its a devastating disease and something I dont wish on my worst enemy. Stay strong *hugs*

    1. Aw, thanks πŸ™‚ She’s doing a little better, but she barely has any strength to get out of bed. I’m sorry about your aunt, that’s terrible 😦

Mmm I’m not very keen on the shows for that very reason…I haven’t done any, and I don’t plan on it. I ride because I love horses, not for medals. I do love jumping, though πŸ™‚
